Mobility Scheme
Over the two years of their studies, NICEST students move to at least three different European countries and immerse themselves in the corresponding cultures (Catalan, Spanish, Greek and Romanian culture) in their first, second and third semesters respectively. In the fourth semester, students can go anywhere in the world to complete their internship, before coming back together to defend their thesis in front of their professors. The NICEST mobility is an incredibly enrichening experience which allows both EU and non-EU students to widen their horizons and live new experiences. In order to help students settle in to and accustom themselves to new cultures, NICEST organises integration weeks with cultural and bounding activities.

Mobility was conceived as essential for the students’ experience within the programme, as both an opportunity to fully encompass the richness of NICEST scope, providing thus the best possible training through combinations of competences, and to develop additional adaptability and flexibility skills, giving the students the keys to face the challenges of tomorrow.
Mobility Rules
Mobility is committed to some rules defined by the European Agency and by the NICEST Consortium, which may constraint the number of places partner institutions specially during the third semester (S3).

Each student will spend study periods (1 study period= 30 ECTS) in at least two of the Programme Countries represented in the consortium (i.e. at least two mobility periods for all students, different from the country of residence of the student at the time of application). Students may even could do its S4 in an additional country. Semester 4 (Master Thesis) can only be completed in one of the NICEST Partner Universities, Associate Partner Universities or Associate company. The Master thesis is always supervised by at least one academic supervisor from a NICEST Partner University.
For Spanish students joining the programme, if they apply for study track on Desalinaton, as it will take place also in Spain, they will need to move to a country different form Spain for the Master Thesis. On the other way there will be full freedom choice for the country of destination on the fourth semester.
Choice of the study track
Mobility offers students an opportunity to choose among the 2 pre-established study tracks according to their personal interests and professional goals, helping them to shape their future careers and embrace the European and international dimensions of the programme.
When applying to NICEST, students will express their mobility preference based on their preference for one of the 2 proposed tracks according to their professional aims, developing thus the skills needed to fully thrive in their future careers. The NICEST Consortium will make the final decision and will communicate the mobility assigned to each selected student.

If the number of students willing to spend their Semester at a given University of the Consortium exceeds the number of available places, a selection will be done. Everything will be done to meet as much as possible the students’ expectations. However, respecting the mobility rules is mandatory. The mobility selection is done after the students have entered the program and depends on:

-
the students wishes,
-
their ranking based on their grades received during Semester 1,
-
the wishes of the other students of the intake,
-
the number of open seats at each NICEST Consortium Universities,
-
the mobility rules.
